Everything is awesome and nobody is happy

06 Aug Everything is awesome and nobody is happy

I have a lot of thoughts. Some good, some bad. I am very blessed that I get to have regular, deep, philosophical conversations with my family and friends. When it comes to the people close to me, I either want to being having insightful conversations or just having huge amounts of fun, nothing in between. A lot of the stuff we talk about has been incredibly helpful for me in developing myself and ultimately having a better experience of life. So, I wanted to share these things with you in the hope that you might also get something out of it.

Thought number one: It seems to me that there a lot of people walking around that say they’re fine when they’re not really fine. If you’re not waking up every day super juiced to be involved with this beautiful gift called life, then a word of warning, you might not be fine and you may be missing out! There are so many incredible things going on in the world and so many things to be excited about! Sometimes, in the hustle in bustle of day to day life we can tend to lose sight of the important things and end up feeling a little bit lost. Sometimes we don’t even know we’re lost but our body tells us that we are through illness and uncomfortable emotions. If you’re feeling that way, never fear, you’re not alone! A lot of people have hope and dreams that they would love to achieve but for one reason or another, life has gotten in the way. This is perfectly normal but we don’t want to become resigned to this becoming our constant way of being. We need to know that there is a better way to live and a much brighter way to experience life. That it is possible to wake up every day and have a lot going on but still be completely pumped about what you get to experience! Imagine this, you wake up in the morning and the first thing you do is say “Thank you” for being alive and being given the opportunity to experience another day. You feel energised and grateful as you bound through your morning routine. With each little thing you do you actually begin to feel more present and awakened and alive. You’re excited for the interactions you have with your family and later your colleagues and your friends because you find them so rich and enlivening to talk to. You do your work with passion, secure in the knowledge that you’re doing your bit for society. You return home at night exhausted because of the full day that you’ve lived.

You probably just read all that and rolled your eyes and thought, “yeah right, nobody feels like that”. Well, if you’re thinking that way, it might be a sign that something isn’t quite right. Let me tell you that all of this is possible for you and you need to believe that with all your heart. It does take some work though and you have to be willing to do a few hard things in the hope of becoming your best self. But don’t waste another day not being the person who you know that you can be. The first step is to start meditating for a couple of minutes every morning and try and get connected with that part of you that is full of love and full of hopes and dreams and start remembering who you are. Don’t know how to meditate? There is a great podcast called “Learn To Meditate“. Try listening to one of those every morning, or if that’s too much, once a week. Remember, there is nowhere to get with meditation, it’s just a chance to quiet your mind and sit in silence.

Start observing where the issues are in your life, the ones that keep popping up in your relationships and the things that cause you to get sad or frustrated. Find those patterns but then go work on them! There are so many amazing channels available to us. Counselling, life coaches, therapy or even newer concepts like the Emotional Freedom Technique. And keep reading. I’ll try and offer more tips and tricks for living a better life in these weekly posts. It might be hard to overcome the things that are holding you back but, think what is on the other side! Remember what a beautiful life awaits you! So, go out and find what you want and find what you’re looking for. Start that journey right now. You won’t regret it.

Action steps:
1. Start regular meditation.
2. Remember who you are and be honest about what’s not working.
3. Go to work on the things that are holding you back!
